Trading the Weather with DTN ProphetX & DTN Weather
This course provides an overview of trading weather markets with DTN ProphetX and the DTN Toolkit.
This course introduces audiences to the concept of “The Casino Paradigm," as well as, “The Golden Ticket” (high probability, low risk, high reward) in speculative trading. It then introduces learners to using DTN’s Weather Maps and Atlantic Tropical Forecast in conjunction with DTN’s ProphetX software to identify and exploit “Golden Ticket” set-ups. These set-ups are illustrated through the examination of three historical “weather events”:
- Hurricane Florence in 2018 and how speculative traders could identify and exploit their information edge in the CME Lean Hog futures market
- Delayed Plantings in Spring of 2019 and how speculative traders could identify and exploit their information edge in the CME Corn futures market
- November-December, 2019 winter forecasts and how speculative traders could identify and exploit their information edge in the CME Natural Gas futures market
